Andrej Podkonicky (born on May 9, 1978) is a Slovak ice hockey player, currently playing for HC Bílí Tygři Liberec in the Czech Republic.
Playing Career[]
Andrej was drafted 196th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
On December 17, 2000 (after playing for two seasons for the Worchester IceCats in the American Hockey League), he was traded to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Eric Boguniecki.
During the 2000-01 NHL season, Andrej played in six games with the Panthers and scored one goal.
On August 14, 2001, he signed as a free agent for HIFK in Finland. On August 3, 2002, Andrej was signed as a free agent to the Iserlohn Roosters for Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany.
On July 14, 2003, Andrej signed as a free agent by the Washington Capitals where he played in two games. He was assigned to the Portland Pirates of the AHL.
He later moved back to the Czech Republic and signed for HC Bílí Tygři Liberec.
Andrej spent the 2007–08 season in Russia for Vityaz Chekhov before returning to Liberec.
