Carl Soderberg (born on October 12, 1985) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Playing Career[]
Carl was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 2nd round (49th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
On July 23, 2007, he was traded to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Hannu Toivonen.
On April 9, 2013, Carl reached a multi-year agreement with the Bruins and secured his release from his Swedish team.
On April 11, 2013, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (SIHF) blocked the release of Carl to the NHL to secure his position on the national team for the upcoming IIHF World Championships being co-hosted by the country.
In the following days, Carl refused to play for the Swedish National Team. On April 13, 2013, the Boston Bruins signed him to a three-year, one-way contract through the 2014–15 season.
In only his second game with the Bruins on April 21, 2013, Carl assisted on the first goal (scored by Jaromir Jagr) of a 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers for his first NHL point.
On October 31, 2013, Carl scored his first NHL goal, beating Jonas Hiller as the first Bruins goal of a 3-2 home rink shootout victory over the visiting Anaheim Ducks.
