Joakim Nordstrom (born February 25, 1992) is a Swedish professional ice hockey centre currently playing for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing Career

Joakim was selected by the Blackhawks in the third round (90th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. On September 23, 2010, he made his SHL debut against Södertälje SK.

On May 29, 2012, Joakim signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Blackhawks on May 29, 2012, but he remained with AIK for the 2012–13 season.

On October 1, 2013, he made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks and on October 11, 2013, he scored his first NHL goal against Kevin Poulin of the New York Islanders.

During the 2014–15 NHL season, Joakim played a career-high 38 regular season games and played in three playoff games with the Blackhawks. While playing with the Rockford IceHogs, he was named the team captain and had 9 goals & 7 assists in 23 games with the team.

On March 13, 2015, he was suspended for two games for boarding against Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson in a game the previous night.

On September 2, 2015, Joakim signed a one-year contract to remain with the Blackhawks, but on September 11, 2015, he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes along with Kris Versteeg and a third-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
