Joe Pavelski (born '''Joseph James Pavelski)''' is an American professional ice hockey player and captain for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Pavelski was drafted in the 7th Round (205th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks. Joe Pavelski was given the captaincy in the start of the 2015-2016 season. Pavelski's official nickname is "The Big Pavelski", and his previous nickname was "Little Joe".

He scored a goal in his first NHL game, making him the 11th Sharks player in the history of the team to do so. He won a silver medal as a member of the United States national men's ice hockey team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
