Loui Eriksson (born July 17, 1985) is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing Career[]

Early Playing Career[]

At a young age, Loui started playing for Lerums BK and he excelled beyond others his age quickly.

By the time he was 11 years old, he was already playing with the older U-16 team. His talent was recognized at various tournaments and he finally landed on the junior team for Frölunda HC.

Loui began his professional career in Elitserien, where he played for Frölunda HC. He won Rookie of the Year honors in 2004 when he was 18 years old after posting 8 goals & 5 assists in 46 games.

A year later, Loui would post five goals and nine assists in 39 games, helping Frölunda HC win the Swedish ice hockey championship (SM-guld).

Dallas Stars[]

In the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the Stars drafted Loui in the second round with the 33rd overall pick.

After playing in his second season with Frölunda of Elitserien, he returned to North America and appeared in two preseason games for Dallas in 2005.

Loui's professional debut in North America came on October 6, 2005 with the Iowa Stars where he posted his first assist and point of the season.

On October 4, 2006, Loui scored his first NHL goal against the Colorado Avalanche. He had a breakout season in 2008–09 where he led the Stars with 36 goals, placing him 5th in the West and 12th overall in goal-scoring.

Also during his break-out season, Loui was one of only three Dallas Stars to play in all 82 games.

Prior to the following season on October 2, 2009, he was recognized as a significant offensive force of the Stars attack by re-signing to a six-year contract extension worth $25.5 million.

Loui participated in his first NHL All-Star Game in 2011. He had a goal and two assists as well as the eventual game-winning empty-net goal to lead all players with four points (matched only by Shea Weber with four assists).

Boston Bruins[]

On July 4, 2013, a trade took place between the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins sending Loui to Boston and Tyler Seguin to Dallas in a seven-player deal. Boston Bruins traded Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button.

In exchange, the Bruins acquired Eriksson, Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser.
