The Manitoba Moose are a team in the American Hockey League. They were among the teams absorbed from the rival International Hockey League (1945-2001) in 2001. They are expected to move to St. John's, Newfoundland for the 2011-2012 season, marking the return of AHL hockey to Atlantic Canada. The Moose first began play in 1994 as the Minnesota Moose. Their new name is the St. John's IceCaps.
