Matt Carey (born Matthew Carey on February 28, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Playing Career
On March 20, 2014, Matt signed as an undrafted free agent to a two-year entry level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks after completing his freshman season with St. Lawrence University in the ECAC.
On March 28, 2014, he made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in the 2013-14 NHL season in a 5-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators.
In the game, Matt deflected a shot by Cody Ceci into his own net, registered two penalty minutes and ended the night with a minus-1 rating.
On April 12, 2014, he scored his first NHL goal against Pekka Rinne in a 7-5 loss to the Nashville Predators.
