Steven Fletcher (born on March 31, 1962) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the NHL during the mid-1980s.

Playing Career[]

For four years, Steven played with the Hull Olympiques of the QMJHL. He was drafted 202nd overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft.

He was strictly a farmhand for Calgary before signing as a free agent with the Montreal Canadiens on August 21, 1984.

Steven's only action with the Habs came during the 1987-88 Adams Division final versus the Boston Bruins. Montreal was being out-hit and out-worked by their opponent so coach Pat Burns called up their top minor league tough guy in an act of desperation.

Steven saw limited action in the playoffs and the Canadiens were eliminated in five games.

On July 15, 1988, he was signed as free agent by the Winnipeg Jets and played for three games during the 1988-89 season.

On December 12, 1988, Steven was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for future considerations, but he was never called up from the AHL.

In 1990-91, he began playing for the Fort Wayne Komets of the IHL. He played a regular shift there for over five seasons and then played 23 games for the Atlanta Knights before retiring in 1996.

Six years later, Steven played in a single game out of retirement for the Komets in the 2002–03 season.

He was later inducted to the Komets Hall of Fame and had his jersey number #77 retired on November 17, 2007.
