Playing Career[]
Anaheim Ducks (2008-2010)[]
Bickel was signed by the Anaheim Ducks in 2008 to a three-year contract. However, in 2010, he was traded to the New York Rangers in exchange for Nigel Williams.
New York Rangers (2010-2013)[]
After starting the 2011-12 season with the AHL Connecticut Whale, he was called up to the Rangers on December 18, 2011. He made his NHL debut two days later, in a game against the New Jersey Devils, recording an assist in the game for his first NHL point. The Rangers then re-signed him to a two-year contract in 2012, and he started the season after the NHL lockout. But soon after, he was placed on waivers and assigned to their AHL affiliate, The Whale and Wolf Pack for the remainder of his contract.
Minnesota Wild (2014-2015)[]
In July of 2014, Bickel signed a one year, two way contract with the Minnesota Wild. Although he was originally signed to the AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild, to begin the season, he returned to the NHL for the first time since 2012 when he appeared in nine games with Minnesota with one assist. Over the off-season, he accepted an invitation to the St. Louis Blues training camp on a professional try-out. However, he was unable to earn a contract with the Blues and their AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. But, Bickel then went on to sign a professional try-out with the San Diego Gulls in 2015.
San Diego Gulls (2017-2018)[]
In Bickel's final professional season, he made four appearances with the San Diego Gulls.
