Ville Siren (born Ville Jussi Sirén on February 11, 1964) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey National Hockey League (NHL) defenseman who is currently the head amateur scout for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

During his six years in the NHL, he has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Minnesota North Stars.

Playing Career[]

Before his NHL career, Ville played hockey for Ilves in SM-1 in Finland.

He was selected by the Hartford Whalers in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft (23rd overall), but on November 16, 1984, his rights were traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Pat Boutette.

He played for Pittsburgh for 4 years until December 17, 1988 when he was traded to the Minnesota North Stars along with Steve Gotaas in exchange for Scott Bjugstad and Gord Dineen.

Ville played for the North Stars for 2 years. After that, he returned to Finland where he continued to play hockey until 1999.

Post-Playing Career[]

After his playing career ended, Scott worked as a scout and player coordinator for the St. Louis Blues, the Washington Capitals and Jokerit.

In 2013, he became the director of Amateur Scouting for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
